Children of inmates are seventy percent more likely to go to prison than their peers without a parent in prison.
The mission of Lifeline Global is to glorify God by inspiring and equipping men and women, with church and community involvement, to become the godly parents, whom God has designed them to be. Our vision is that every child of an incarcerated parent would have a mother and father who will build a legacy of faith in Christ for their families, regardless of their circumstances.
“Art Rorheim knew something we didn’t know.” says Burl Cain, former warden at Angola State Prison. “He knew that the children were the key to the inmates’ heart.”
The inmate realized he had abandoned his children, and that he was only thinking about himself when he committed his crime. Awana became a key agent in moral rehabilitation and prison rehabilitation. Remember, without morality you’ve only made a smarter criminal, says Cain.
Children desperately need their fathers and mothers to lead and direct them. The longest serving warden at Angola prison went on to say that Malachi Dads and the Returning Hearts Celebration are the most profound, important programs we could do for prison rehabilitation.
LIFELINE GLOBAL IS INSPIRING AND EQUIPPING MEN, WOMEN, FAMILIES, CHURCHES AND COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP GODLY FATHERS AND MOTHERS REGARDLESS OF THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES.
The principles of Lifeline Global are founded upon a spiritual truth from Malachi 4:6
There are three unique programs to Lifeline Global: Malachi Dads, Hannah’s Gift and the Returning Hearts Celebration. Click on the video for a brief 2 min. overview.
The Malachi Dads program offers five books that guide inmate fathers to become godly men and fathers. Psalm One-The Blessed Man is a six-lesson study written by the Malachi Dad inmates at Angola Prison.
The women’s program, Hannah’s Gift offers inmate mothers the opportunity to have a spiritual impact on their children’s lives following the example of Hannah in 2 Samuel. This program has two books plus the Psalm 23 book, written by women at the Louisiana Correctional Institution for Women.
Today (Jan 2019) Awana Lifeline became Lifeline Global, an independent ministry and has programs in about 200 prisons and jails in 30 US states and in 9 prisons internationally: Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
