Friends –
I am pleased to share this blessed update from Executive Director Mike Broyles:
In September, we celebrated the start of the first accredited Christian college in a California state prison, Mule Creek!
This college is under the leadership of SUM Bible College & Theological Seminary, Paid in Full California, and the Corrections Department of California. Twenty-three inmate students are working toward earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and Ministry.
Mr. Burl Cain, Commissioner of Corrections for Mississippi, along with the Secretary of Corrections of California, spoke to the men of Mule Creek. Current and former Inmates also shared testimonies about how Christ has changed their lives.
On the day we celebrated, two yards at the prison with over 1,700 inmates were allowed to enjoy hot dogs, snacks, and drinks provided and cooked by Soldiers of the Cross, a Christian motorcycle group. Soldiers of the Cross also shared the Gospel of Christ and led men to be followers of Jesus.
WOW, ONLY GOD!
Later, with just the 23 inmate students in their classroom, prison leaders and Paid in Full California leaders listened as each student shared a brief testimony about following Christ and how excited they were about learning God’s Word and ministry principles in their college experience. Tears and much joy were shared. God is at work in these men, teachers, and prison leaders.
Malachi Dads is being taught on Fridays for college credit (internship). After these inmate students finish our first Malachi Dads curriculum book, they will begin to teach other inmates about how to be a godly man and godly father!
Yes, good things can happen in California state prisons. We are only getting started!
ONLY GOD!
How can you help further our efforts in California and across the U.S.? Please consider a year-end gift. We are grateful for your generosity!
In His Name,
Dr. Romney Ruder
