This week begins my favorite season of the year, where we remember the events leading up to and including the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ: Lent.
The Encyclopedia Britannica defines Lent as a period of fasting and regret for one’s sins that is observed by the 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter. Yet I believe they miss the mark as Lent also emphasizes Christ’s triumphant glory we all experience through His resurrection. What I love about this time of year is that we are reminded that, in the end, We Win!
Lifeline Global is so blessed to announce that within this season, Mike Broyles has introduced a new book about his life in ministry to the incarcerated called ONLY GOD.
How fitting is the timing as Mike showcases some of the scenes from the Mount of Olives where he says, “Jesus died between two thieves to show that even the most broken men and women are still human beings made in the image of God and deserving of dignity.”
During this time of remembrance and contemplation, I would encourage you to go out and get a copy of Mike’s new book, ONLY GOD. Mike shares the story about how God has used him to minister to the “least of these.” What a great example it provides for all of us as we seek to grow in our individual walks of faith. It provides a great companion read for our individual Lenten journeys but is even better in a small discussion group like a bible study. What’s more, all proceeds from Mike’s book will be given back to Lifeline Global.
These days, we often do not hear of any good news. But in Christ, the Good News continues to be shared with the lost and the forgotten: ONLY GOD.
