Everybody loves a celebration. And who wouldn’t? Celebrations are ways for us to mark significant events and accomplishments. These events help us identify times that are extraordinary or beyond the typical day. As Christians, God instructs us to rejoice. Philippians 4 says we are to be cheerful and rejoice in every season of life. King David provides a great example of what this might look like in 2 Samuel 6.
Twenty-plus years ago, our organization determined that we needed to celebrate the initial group of men in Angola State Prison who were a part of the original Malachi Dads. Over the years, Returning Hearts Celebration (RHC) became a “showcase” for Lifeline Global to reveal to the world the impact of Dad’s (even incarcerated ones) influence on the lives of their children.
After a long hiatus, we were overjoyed to be invited back to Angola State Prison this year to help host an RHC for Malachi Dads. In some ways, putting on the event is returning to a location and a program where Lifeline Global has its roots. Yet, after some time of not being able to conduct the occasion, it is like launching an inaugural program.
One thing that remains constant is that in order for the affair to be successful, we need you. Historically, we know that RHC is only as good as the volunteers that help to put it on; and with a general cost of over $50,000, we could not put on the program without additional financial support.
Over the coming weeks, we will be providing information on how you can assist us in making this RHC the best yet. Let me take this opportunity to thank each of you in advance for your prayer, financial support, and volunteering.
In His Name,
Dr. Romney Ruder
