For the Returning Hearts Celebration
Louisiana State Penitentiary (AKA Angola)
Saturday, May 16, is the date of the Returning Hearts Celebration. Approximate event time on
Saturday is 7:00 am and ends around 4:00 pm.
There is a Volunteer Training and the Malachi Dads Graduation on Friday, May 15. Approximate
event time on Friday is 8:00 am and ends around 4:00 pm.
While the training is optional, we encourage volunteers to attend. In addition to the training, there will be the Malachi Dads Graduation for everyone and a riding tour of Angola for first-time volunteers.
Space is limited in the chapel and those that attend the training are given first priority. Check with us closer to the day and we will let you know if attending is possible.
For volunteers that attend on Friday and Saturday, the early bird mission fee is $110. After March
15 the mission fee will be $135. This cost includes a noon meal on both days and helps with the
cost of the event (t-shirts, bags, inflatables, fun fair games, etc.)
For volunteers that attend on Saturday only, the cost is $40. This cost includes a noon meal and
helps with the cost of the event (t-shirts, bags, inflatables, fun fair games, etc.)
Yes, each volunteer is responsible for booking their own travel, lodging and meals.

We are praying for at least 500 volunteers! Please ask your family, friends and church family to join you.
You will not be allowed to bring your cell phone or a camera into the prison.
Long pants (jeans are fine), no shorts or capris are allowed, tops (no sleeveless shirts for men and women) need to be modest. A Returning Hearts T-shirt will be provided to each volunteer. Additional information will be in the Volunteer Guide.
There are a variety of activities that volunteers will be assisting in to help make the event run smoothly and be fun for everyone.
On the website, www.lifelineglobal.org, there is a list of areas in which to serve. When you register, you can enter your top three areas of preference. You will be sent your assigned area the week of the event. Get ready to have some fun!
As part of child protection, Angola and Lifeline Global require background screens on all volunteers.
At the beginning of May, you will receive a Volunteer Guide that will walk you through what you need to know about the event and being at a prison. This guide has valuable information in it and you should read it prior to arriving at RHC.
There will also be a conference call training for the Saturday only volunteers. Information will be sent out with dates and times.
